BUSINESS MANAGER / SECRETARY-TREASURER
Profile - Patrick Byrne
Patrick Byrne is DC38’s Business Manager and Secretary-Treasurer. As the Business Manager, Patrick manages the council and is DC38’s lead negotiator and chief financial officer.
He is also chairperson of the Joint Trade Board, which runs DC38’s training facility The Finishing Trades Institute of BC, and sits on a number of industry committees, including The Bargaining Council of British Columbia Building Trades Unions (BCBCBTU).
A veteran of the glazing trade, Patrick joined Local 1527 in 1976 as an apprentice. From there, he worked for many years as a glazing journeyperson until he was elected to a business representative position in 1997.
Since then, he has been elected and appointed into roles with more and more responsibility, such as Assistant Business Manager 2005 and most recently Business Manager and Secretary-Treasurer in 2009.
The glazing trade runs deep in Patrick’s family. His dad was a glazier and from him Patrick first learned how important the trades are.
As DC38’s Business Manager, Patrick is dedicated to building the council for the future, working collaboratively with employers, and training the best apprentices in the province. |
