How do unions work?

Workers know they deserve fair wages and safe working conditions. Minimum standards are set out by governments. Unions help employees receive fair treatment and better wages and benefits in a respectful work environment by providing a mechanism to bring all employees together to work toward common goals.

Once your company is unionized, representatives from your work site and experts from the union will negotiate a contract covering wages and conditions. The workers at the job site decide by majority vote, on final contract.

I'd like to bring in the union to my work site. How do I do that?
Many people are not sure how to bring in a union or how they function. Some feel threatened by their employer and fear what might happen if they try to bring in a union.
