DC38 retirees gathered for the annual Retirees Luncheon at the Engineer’s Operating Hall in Burnaby on May 20, 2010. It was an opportunity for DC38 retirees to join together and reminisce about their days spent on the tools.
“I see people and it brings the stories back,” said Juergen Piske, a retired painter and DC38 member since 1966. “I have to give thanks to the union for organizing it. Every year I try to come.”
Retirees enjoyed a delicious lunch, live music, and the company of former colleagues.
“I met a lot of people through the union. It’s nice to see them again,” said Clive Collerup, a retired painter who joined DC38 in 1973. “I retired in 2004.”
As a token of DC38’s appreciation, DC38 Business Manager Pat Byrne presented retirees with a service pin. William Hunt received a pin for his 62 years of DC38 membership, which was the longest membership award given out this year.
